“a return to elegance”

We're glad you found South Court Inn and we would like to welcome you to the Bed and Breakfast, our home and hopefully your destination! Since the middle of July my husband Mike and I have been excited to be the new owners of the South Court Inn, a well established Bed and Breakfast that has been in business since the spring of 2000. Our hope is to build on the wonderful reputation of this destination in Luray in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. I am delighted to fulfill our dream of running a B&B. Since the 80's when I came to America from the then West Germany I found the idea of owning a B&B more and more appealing. As new "empty nesters" we could jump on the opportunity to run the South Court Inn.

We have traveled to a number of countries around the world, Mike at work and both of us during vacation time and we want to create a warm and welcoming home for visitors from around the world. May it be for exploring the Shenandoah Valley for the first time, just for a getaway, or to celebrate a special event in your life. We will try and make this a special and cherished experience for you from the hand-made, locally produced welcome chocolates on your bed to the 7am carafe of coffee or tea at your door in the morning to the spacious property with swings and lawn games and let's not forget a lovely breakfast!  However long you stay with us, our goal is that you might get back in touch with the important things in life, that are not things, at all, right?!

The victorian decor of this home reflects the time it was built. Nevertheless all furnishings are there to be used by our guests; our goal is to make you feel like part of the family and to be right at home (though we'll pamper you like Kings and Queens). Part of that pampering is that we are introducing European style bedding to fit our idea of a more elegant and different experience for our guests in the form of duvets!  Mike has seen these at some of the nicer hotels he has stayed at but they don't quite get it, unlike those properties that include a flat sheet (in the US anyway) the duvet 'bag' is washed after each guest stay and therefore no additional flat sheet is needed, we think you'll really like these (we do)!  The Sunroom has a more contemporary feel and is where 24/7 coffee, tea and snacks are located along with a bunch of comfy chairs and relaxing plants.

We have two acres of land for you to explore, extensive gardens in the front and an expansive lawn in the rear with a number of tall hardwood trees, gardens, couple's swings/gliders and an awesome fire pit (with plenty of wood)!  There is a rustic barn and carriage house as well where Mike is building his plane.

The town of Luray is quaint and very well managed for visitors.  There are numerous shops for antiquing, ice cream, coffee, pastries; food and drink from shacks to several very good places for different types of bar-b-cue to gourmet dining are within walking distance.  You can even get legal moon shine at the local ABC store! Yea-Ha!  If you want to work off those luscious calories you can take a stroll on the town 'Greenway' walk along the Hawksbill Creek, a short walk in itself from the South Court Inn.
