“A Major Site of the Civil War”

On July 21, 1861, two armies clashed for the first time on the fields overlooking Bull Run. Heavy fighting swept away any notion of a quick war. I absolutely love the battlefield. Wide open space to have a picnic, throw a football and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding nature. It's so peaceful it's hard to imagine a bloody war there hundreds of years ago. The museum shows a movie of the war that's pretty informative. Landmarks of civil war history are everywhere and they even have old school cannons. Very cool place.
