“a geologic treasure”
This remote and unspoiled, 280,000-acre Monument is a geologic treasure, containing a variety of diverse landscapes from the Paria Plateau, Vermilion Cliffs, Coyote Buttes, and Paria Canyon. Elevations range from 3,100 to 7,100 feet. Located on the Colorado Plateau in northern Arizona, Vermilion Cliffs National Monument includes the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. The Monument borders Kaibab National Forest to the west and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area to the east.
The Vermillion Cliffs are in both AZ and UT. Parts of it are along U.S. Highway 89 and U.S. Highway 89A. The address is correct now!
The drive down Highway 89A through the Vermilion Cliffs is absolutely breathtaking. It's incredible to see the huge cliffs on your left and realize that you're in the bottom of a ginormous basin that stretches all the way to the cliffs on your right. The magnitude of this area just blows your mind.
