We've been trying to get down to Lake Corpus Christi State Park for some time. The park is known for its water sports (it's located on Lake Corpus Christi) and for its wildlife viewing (some of the best migration birding). But we were surprised to find that the park offered several amenities that we've not seen at state parks before. The RV sites are pull-through. Javelina loop is full hook-up, 30/50amp. Opossum Bend loop is 30amp with water. Very friendly staff and park hosts, as well as campers. We will definitely return. Early spring is a great time to go if you are a birder.

Price above reflects our Texas State Park pass. Our site included water and electricity. There was a picnic table and shelter.

Please note, review is only about the campground. Rest of the park looked nice for fishing and boating.

Sites are part concrete and part crumbling asphalt. Our site was unlevek side to side and front to back. Mud has been washing down the grade and covering most of the sites.

Trash was visible throughout the campground in the sites. Never saw anyone cleaning a site. Did see multiple rangers drive through and a couple of trailers that said host.

Trees are overgrown in the campground and many right above your rig. Right now they are dropping red berries.

Wife went to the bathrooms and said they were disgusting. This from a women who’ll use a pit toilet.

Neighbors told us that we were lucky not to be there over the weekend. They had to call the state police on rowdy campers.

Looks like this might be a party getaway for the weekends.

Price reflects park pass rate with no entrance fee. Compared to the other two reviews we had a rather pleasant experience. It was chilly and rainy. Our site was not super level but we managed. It had a nice view of the water. The only sites that were being used with the Water and Electric in the full hookup sites. We did walk to the water only sites on those looked really nice. The bathrooms were clean and so was the campground. There were lots of deer. We would definitely stay here again in a non-busy time . We stayed during the weekdays January 14th to 16th, 2019.

We are sorry we couldn't stay longer.

The high light was the extensive set up they had for bird watching/viewing. Exceptional area, well worth coming back for this feature.
Good hiking trails as well.

The sites were muddy from the rain but not much of a problem as we had a pull through on a half circle.

Stayed here in January '20 and realized in short order that the lake is the draw here, and without fishing gear or boating there's little else. Rode the bicycle around the park enough to know each pebble. The nights were entertaining listening to coyotes and owls, and the setting was scenic enough, but without a kayak or canoe, or some kind of boat, I'll not return. The facilities were tolerable and the shower was tepid, I warmed up on the way back to the trailer. The hiking trails seemed little more than cut throughs that became trails, with one exception being an in and out loop. The site, #19, looked like a BMX bike ramp as the two trees on either side raised the end of the pad with their roots. I put the tongue jack off the pad and past the "ramp" to get level and this worked as the truck wasn't on the pad anyway. It was quiet in January but talking with a camp host revealed that during the summer it's hard to see the grass for the tents, again the lake and the beach is the draw. The metropolis of Corpus Christi is a short drive for all in town needs/desires and just a little further is the Gulf Coast for your entertainment. Padre Island, Port A, and Mustang Island St Pk are well worth the drive, and a great reason to get out of the park.

Our last visit was over two years, so we were hoping to see some infrastructure improvements in this overused park and were inspired when we saw the new entrance sign, but it ended there. No doubt about it this is a beautiful park, great fishing pier but horribly overused and it shows it!
Made reservations 4 months prior to arriving for a 2-day weekend stay in the Javelina Loop. Arrived at 215pm Friday to a check-in line at the Park Headquarters. The wait was 15 minutes. The ranger gave me great service and explained completely the slightly twisted transactions that we went thru to finalize my costs (I had rescheduled this stay from a Fall 2019 reservation, purchased a Park Pass and used a TX SP gift card).
Pull-thru site with a concrete pad (bad condition) just long and wide enough for our 28 ft trailer. We had to level side-to-side. Aluminum picnic table was on its own concrete pad under a tree. There was a septic system cleanout pipe right in the middle of our campsite, which was a tripping hazardous waiting to happen, so we piled wood around it. Metal fire ring with cooking grate was overflowing with ash so our campfire was above the metal rim. No lantern hook. No vegetation between sites, so no privacy from neighbors.
Constant vehicle traffic through the Javelina Loop, but otherwise quiet campground, except for the occasional coyotes howling and barking dogs.
Park entrance gate closed 10pm to 7am, but an access code was provided at check-in.
Restroom/showers were clean but just worn out and desperately needing renovation. Toilets were difficult to flush and clogged easily. Interior walls crumbling exposing structure. Really nice all-aluminum fishing pier along with a fish cleaning pavilion.
Got 3 bars AT&T cell service.

This park is nicely set up. Pay close attention when booking though, as there is one RV loop without sewer and only 30amp. The other RV loop has full hook-ups and 50 amp. Bring the boat on this trip. Really cool lake. Deer in and out of our site. Lots of other wildlife.

Beautiful park with fishing piers, boat docks, nice trails and if you are a bird watcher, they have a nice bird watching area. I was looking for a green jay. Found it there.

We stayed here for a few nights around Christmas time. There was good privacy between the sites and my kids enjoyed biking around the park and playing in the sand at the beach. I also liked that our site had a covered picnic table, as well as a fire pit and grill. As others mentioned, there are 2 different loops - one with full hookups and one with electric & water only.

We also saw lots of birds and plenty of deer. The best time to go to the birding area is in the morning, when the put food out for the birds.

If you are staying for more than a few nights (or staying at other state parks in Texas), definitely consider buying the Texas State Parks Pass - it's good for 1 year and gives 50% off the second night and covers the day-use fee.

Enjoyed a pull-through site under tall trees a short walk from the lake. Power and water at site. Dump station was pretty sloped. Showers were not warm. Bathrooms clean. Good trails. ATT service was off and on.
