The Rice Homestead is a wonderful little historical home of Oliver Rice who came to the area in 1790 and built a one room cabin. In 1810, Oliver built this Federal Style home and attached his 1790 cabin to the back of it. In back of that is a 1920's kitchen. The home contains Rice family furnishings from 6 generations, a Mayfield History Room, and a local Glove Industry Room. Out back is a Loom Room that includes old tools, a smokehouse, and a spring house. A period flower garden and herb garden are on the grounds as well. It is open for free tours during the summer on Wed. & Sat. from noon till 4 pm.
