“tells the stories of Southeast Oklahoma”
The Tannehill Historical Gun and Prison Museum tells the stories of Southeast Oklahoma through artifacts that predate statehood through the prison riots of 1973. Exhibits include historical guns, Oklahoma State penitentiary memorabilia and even the retired electric chair "Old Sparky". After over half a century of collecting items, more space became needed and the museum is now constructing a new building that will allow better access to the materials housed inside. Come explore part of McAlester's history and learn as the Tannehill Museum presents the determination and grit of McAlester.
