“An Oasis of Open Space”
Ridley Creek State Park encompasses over 2,606 acres of Delaware County woodlands and meadows. The gently rolling terrain of the park, bisected by Ridley Creek, is only 16 miles from center city Philadelphia and is an oasis of open space in a growing urban area. Ridley Creek is stocked with trout and provides excellent angling. The portion of the creek from Sycamore Mills Dam to the mouth of Dismal Run is a catch and release, fly fishing only area. An ADA accessible fishing platform is on the paved, Multi-use Trail along Sycamore Mills Road. Vehicle permits must be acquired at the park office. Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission laws apply. The trails pass through a variety of habitats throughout the central portion of the park.
My boyfriend and I walked around aimlessly without any real direction or (to be honest) idea where we were, but we had a lot of fun.
Been here a few times and it's great! There's paved and unpaved trails so you can bike, hike, run, or whatever. Note that the trails are generally not loops and some (especially yellow) can drop you out pretty far from the starting point. Recommend getting a map and planning your time out so you don't get lost after sunset. There's tons of parking, trails aren't crowded at all, overall definitely recommend.
