Founded in 1946 by Art Cole, Director Emeritus. Annual fundraiser – Summer Mummers – started in 1949. Opened Theatre Center – near Dennis the Menace park – in 1958 Opened Cole Theatre at 2000 West Wadley in 1978 Summer Mummers started being produced at Yucca Theatre in 1981 Hosted 1995 National AACT (American Association of Community Theatre) festival Purchased historic Yucca Theatre in downtown Midland in 1999 Produced EVITA with MOSC at Chap Center in 2001 $3.6 million capital campaign allowed MCT to renovate Cole Theatre in 2005 Hosted International AACT festival in 2006 at the Cole Theatre. First community theatre in USA to produce THE PRODUCERS (2008), RENT (2009), LES MISERABLES (2009) and SHREK THE MUSICAL (2013) Represented North American at IATA International Theatre festival in Norway in 2011
