“Wrote the book on Brewery Tours”
Milwaukee's own Lakefront Brewery Inc. started in 1987. The industrious and inventive microbrewery located on the Milwaukee River has become a Milwaukee landmark. Its rich history includes partnerships with local taverns, preservation of local historical pieces, unique tours, family style dining options and most importantly, great beer. The infamous tour is as unique as the brewery and has a constant evolution in style and delivery. To begin with, Lakefront Brewery, Inc. thought it was odd to wait until the end of a tour to drink a beer. They believe there is a direct correlation between attention span on beer tours and drinking beer. Lakefront believes people want to go on brewery tours for three main reasons: drink beer, be entertained, and see the place. So, to meet their philosophy, the company provides beer at the start of the tour, shares jokes along the way, and still manages to explain the brewing process and history of Lakefront. Many people on staff give the tour, and there is no specific script. Employees are encouraged to remember certain highlights, but mostly to add their own style and jokes to entertain guests along the way.
Easily the best thing to do in Milwaukee
This was a great experience and well worth the trip! The tour guides were funny and informative, the beer was fantastic, and you leave with a nice beer glass.....WELL worth the cost of the tour. I don't even like maple syrup, but that root beer was really good.
Short tour but amazing craft beer. Well worth the price and a must if your going to do any brewery tours in Milwaukee. Their maple root beer is to die for and you can trade your beers in for it if you don't drink. Their new grist is gluten free and awesome. Something for everyone.
AMAZING cheese curds. You must get them. Good beers, too. Nothing fancy, but a solid place for a drink. Live polka music sometimes, which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on if you're into that.
Soooo, we have been to lots of lots of breweries all over the world. This trip we landed in over 20. Lakeside is big but has poor parking. Lakeside is big but is so packed you can't hear yourself talk. Lakeside is big and therefore you must walk through the guest shop to get to the bathroom. It feels a lot like a great brewery that got too big for it's britches. I am not a hater but I am more a craft brewery that feels like a craft brewery. We had over an hour and half wait time, so we ditched out. I can't say anything about the beer but I hope it was better than their staff.
Amazing beer. Fantastic tour. Great fish fry. Not a bad thing to be said about this place. They also work hard at implementing sustainable practices into their brewing, which gets a big thumbs up from me. If you only visit one brewery in Milwaukee, make it this one.
Tour guide was great. Hilarious from start to finish. Beer was good, food was even better. Nice to get a souvenir glass as part of the tour as well.
If you ask pretty much any random person on the streets of Milwaukee for something fun to do, chances are they’ll recommend you check out the Lakefront Brewery tour. In fact, the experience was recommended so many times that I knew I needed to check it out. And the locals are right—Lakefront Brewery does not disappoint. This is one of the funniest brewery tours I've ever been on. And don't forget to order cheese curds when you're done!
Best brewery tour I've ever been on. Only $7 when I went, and you can taste to your hearts' content along the way. The tour guides are renown for being hilarious and encouraging drinking on the tour. HIGHLY recommend heading to Lakefront for fishfry on Fridays and listening to some bluegrass bands while you casually chow down on one of the best fries in WI.
