“Fine European and American Beers!”
Sprecher Brewery is a brewery founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by Randal Sprecher in 1985. Sprecher produces an assortment of beers and sodas. The brewery has since moved to the neighboring city of Glendale in Milwaukee County. Despite producing a full range of micro-brewed craft beers, the brewery is arguably best known for its premium sodas. Sprecher Brewing Co. was founded in 1985 by RANDAL SPRECHER, formerly a brewing supervisor at Pabst Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. From 1985 to 1994, the brewery was located at 730 W. Oregon Street in Milwaukee's Walker's Point area. Through the first ten years the company grew steadily as more and more people found out about Sprecher's high quality beers and sodas. Finally, the company had outgrown its original facility and began looking for a new location to continue its growth. Sprecher and other micro-breweries have revived both the distinctive quality of regional beer and old world brewing methods as well. The term "Micro-Brewery" refers to the relative size of the brewery when compared to gigantic beer production facilities of mass marketed national brands. Where these "Mega-Giants" produce from 20 million on up to 90 million barrels a year each, a "Micro-Brewery" is a considerably small operation, brewing less than 15,000 barrels a year. Although some have grown to 50,000 to 100,000 barrels a year.
For a unique brewery tour, I highly recommend the reserve tasting that includes beer and cheese pairings. Be sure to get a bag of the beer flavored chips (so good) and try a selection of their sodas, which are among the best craft sodas anywhere.
Loved this root beer as a kid. Although the tour is no longer during live production they do allow you to walk the production line up close and not through glass. It’s very short but afterwards you can sample four draft beers and unlimited sodas. Gift shop is reasonably priced.
The tour itself isn't super cool but the tasting you get afterwards is well worth it! I brought my two young sons along and they got unlimited soda sampling and cute souvenir cups too. With my paid tour cost, I got a cool souvenir glass and four good size beer samplings of my choice. The sampling area was very cool and they were very friendly and relaxed. I didn't feel rushed at all and the boys went up many times for different sodas, which were VERY good! :) Win-win!
The tour was nothing special but they do make great beers and they even do sodas, so you can bring kids. They actually do hard sodas with alcohols and a grapefruit radler for those who don't really like beer. And the beer hall is a really cool place to drink!
