“Serving food made from scratch in Minneapolis, MN”
At Colossal Cafe we strive to bring honest, American scratch cooking to the neighborhood. The Colossal Cafe building had many previous incarnations, the most recent being, Me and Ma’s. In February of 2005, Bess Giannakakis began work on the current space. Everything was torn out; including ceilings, walls and floors. Six months (and a great deal of work by many people) later the Cafe opened it’s doors. The immediate support of the neighborhood and the press helped solidify the Cafe as the Minneapolis institution it is today. In August 2010 Carrie, John and Elizabeth Tinucci purchased the Colossal Cafe. They have continued the tradition of providing creative food and quality service to the neighborhood and beyond.Another milestone happened in December 2011 when Colossal Cafe will opened its second Minnesota restaurant in Saint Paul. Occupying the the former Saint Anthony Park Clinic, Colossal Cafe, St. Paul provides the neighborhood with the same great food and gathering space as the Minneapolis restaurant. Featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!
Stopped in the new location on our last trip up and the new place is pretty cool.
We sat outside as the weather was beautiful.
The service and the food were great...I ordered the Flapper and Fruit (which was amazing) and the Mrs ordered the Breakfast Biscuit and it looked very tasty as well!
Stopped back by before the "big" move coming up. Love the little place with a big name!
Flappers were as good as ever! The staff was friendly and cheerful as ever and looking forward to the bigger facility.
Apple, Walnut, and Brie Flappers were very tasty, the Mrs had the Colassal Combo, bacon and toast were awesome in that serving. Once again a TripleD signature....small place with big flavors
