“The largest tree in Missouri”
This Bur Oak outside McBaine, MO is the largest Bur Oak tree in the nation and the largest tree in Missouri. It is estimated to be over 350 years old.
The road is like a crazy turny roller coaster. The tree is beautiful. Very quiet and relaxing place to just sit and enjoy the scenery.
Met a local cyclist who told us that during a drought a local farmer brought a thousand gallons of water a day to keep the tree alive. Sure glad they did. Worth the stop.
It was actually really cool and the area is absolutely beautiful. It's an off road picturesque area with no place to sit but there is little traffic so you can walk on the road and take some pretty pictures
Pretty cool, and a pretty drive there. Some people spray painted the base, which sucks, but still happy we stopped there!
The tree is cool! Out next to the road in one of the few open areas you'll see in this neck of the woods. It's not worth the trip by itself, but hoo boy, the road in is fun!! Like a little roller coaster! I'd recommend it just for that!
The road to get there is a long winding up and down road but nice scenery. When we finally got there I thought "this is it??" but then we got out and the base of the tree is huge! Very peaceful place. To bad some people spray painted around it.
Cool to see! The kids loved it and it's near some very scenic conservation areas.
