“Home of "the world's largest rope swing"”
Corona Arch is a natural sandstone arch near Moab, Utah in a side canyon of the Colorado River. It can be accessed via a 1.5-mile (2.4 km) hiking trail from Utah State Route 279. This is the site of a rope swing shown on some YouTube videos. One titled, "World's Largest Rope Swing", has garnered more than 17 million views since it was posted February 15, 2012. Such videos have led to more people jumping from Corona Arch. On March 24, 2013, a man from Utah was killed due to miscalculating the distance to the ground before he swung from the arch
Is there actually a rope swing here or did these guys do this on their own?
Corona arch is awesome! Its about an hour and a halfish hike along the sandstone which is sweet in itself until you get to the arch! You'll be able to see it from a ways away and hear the people as its kind of at the start of a canyon. Anyways the hike is pretty sweet including some ladder climbs and good views!
Once you get to the arch you'll usually see some people rock climbing and hanging out under the arch. Definitely worth the hike out especially if you want to avoid some of the national park crowds. I think it is quite rare to see anyone on the rope swing (went 3 times and didn't see or talk to anyone who had seen it!)
The rope swing was made by some guy for as temporary for a video shoot. He has the video on YouTube. I think his channel name is devinsupertramp.
This is my recommendation for seeing one of the huge sandstone arches this area is famed for. It's just down the road (279) from Moab/Arches NP entrance so is very easy to get to, you can park down the bottom there and then it's about an hour and a half hike up. In my opinion Arches National Park is now far too overcrowded. I mean it's ridiculously overcrowded these days. This is your free, and far more secluded and adventurous alternative.
