“unmatched by any other venues in the area”
The City of Montgomery teamed up with 2WR Architects Inc. to renovate Grocer's Alley into Montgomery's premier entertainment district. The ALLEY, currently home to Dreamland Barbeque, AlleyBAR, 129 Coosa, the Deli, Jalapenos, Central and SAZA's Serious Italian Food, has people coming from all over to dine, hear live music and engage in conversation over cocktails. With entrances on Commerce, Coosa and Tallapoosa Streets, and a lighted historic water tower as the landmark, the atmosphere found in The ALLEY is unmatched by any other venues in the area. The Fun in the Sun bar on the Alabama River in downtown Montgomery overlooking the RiverWalk amphitheater! Season opens March 15th. 3pm until you leave (or 2am) Wednesday- Friday 1pm until you leave (or 2am) Saturday - Sunday Opened Saturday April 14th, 2012, to RiverWalk at High Red Bluff Also called Hostile Bluff or Thirteen Mile Bluff, this spot located in a deep bend of the Alabama River was once the key to the Southeast and a strategic point in Colonial days. The first steamboat , the Harriet, arrived at this point in 1821, and the first railroad came in 1880, making Montgomery a transportation hub for people and commerce. When cotton was king, millions of bales were shipped from the wharf here by steam boat to Mobile and thence to the mills of England. The tunnel under the railroad tracks was built in 1879 so that horse-drawn wagons of cotton could be brought to wharf without crossing the tracks.
