“an old bank turned Louisiana classic”
A great restaurant destination while in Morgan City is Café Jo Jo’s. Chef Brian Blanchard of the acclaimed Imonelli Restaurant in Lafayette, turned an old bank building on Front Street into an Italian and seafood restaurant named after his mother–who, by the way, manages it. The old bank vault is one of the first things you’ll see as you walk into the dimly-lit restaurant. While dress is casual for the restaurant’s guests, the friendly wait staff is finely dressed with white shirts, black pants and bowties. Friendly, refined Ms. Dee greeted us with menus as she sat us down and told us the specials of the day. After looking at the menu, I ordered Tilapia Brents–flaky white filet of tilapia dusted in black peppercorns, pan sautéed until crisp and finished with a lemon butter sauce. My mom ordered the special of the day–seafood crepes–boiled shrimp and lump crabmeat rolled in crepes and covered in an Italian cream herb sauce.”That’s one of our specialties and best sellers,” assured Ms. Dee.My mom whole-heartedly agreed after taking one bite.
