“The Beauty Spot of Elmore!”
Welcome to Elmore State Park. The Town of Lake Elmore calls itself “The Beauty Spot of Vermont.” Located in the southeastern part of Lamoille County, Elmore is mostly forested and agricultural land. Lake Elmore and Elmore Mountain, which rises almost from the lake’s shore, are prominent features of the town. Lake Elmore is 219 acres, and lies northwest of the village and empties into the Lamoille River through Pond Brook. Elmore Mountain is in the "Hogback Range" and its timber is mostly hardwood. The mountain has an elevation of 2,608 feet. The park had its beginning in 1936 when the town of Elmore and local citizens made a gift of 30 acres on Lake Elmore to the state of Vermont. With modest means, a picnic and beach area were created. Today, with more than 700 acres, Elmore State Park has become a popular, developed recreation facility. The campground has 45 tent/trailer sites and 15 lean-tos. Two restrooms are available in the campground with hot showers ($). A sanitary dump station is available, but no hookups. There is convenient access to several hiking trails to Elmore Mountain and its fire tower. The day use area includes a large sandy beach, an historic CCC-built beach house with a community room that can be rented for group functions, a concession stand and cafe area, restrooms, and boat rentals.

Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on June 11, 2023Elmore State Park has mostly sunny sites although the are a small number of wooded sites available (sites 1-6 are wooded). I chose to camp on one of the sites in a large open area so my solar panels could get sun and felt like I had a huge site to myself since no one else camped near me. Water spigots were available around the campground - I needed my water theif to attach my hose (rubber adaptor thingy) since there were no threads on the spigot.
The lake is a short walk down a hill in the day use area - there is a large parking lot there. The beach has a large grassy area with some trees and also a sandy area at the water. There is also a beautiful indoor/outdoor pavilion with restrooms where they sometimes host weddings.
You can drive to a parking area at the base of Elmore Mountain where there are 2 trails that form a loop, the shorter steeper Fire Tower Trail and the meandering Ridge Trail. I hiked both plus rode my bicycle up the hilly road to the trail head - I recommend driving to the trailhead as it is a steep bicycle ride.
Check in time was 2 pm and they wouldn't allow me to set up before then. However, they did allow me to dump on arrival at 1pm and scope out sites which took an hour anyway so it all worked out fine.

From the friendly/helpful ranger who checked us in to the volunteers that cleaned the bathrooms and did the landscaping, an A1 park!
Large grassy sites with a picnic table and fire ring. Bathrooms and showers (for a fee) are very clean. We were able to pick the site we wanted (didn't make a reservation) so chose one that suited the size of our RV and the majority of sites are acceptably level.
Nice well maintained trails, beautiful beach and beach/club house (that has Wi-Fi). Firewood is available for purchase.
Water faucets are plentiful and the dump station and drinking water faucet is easy to access.
Nights and early mornings were extremely peaceful.

We were only at the campground for 1 evening and the next morning. Check in was easy and the camp wood for $6 was a good amount and dry. Bathrooms were clean. One toilet was clogged and it was resolved by staff pretty quickly. Wish we had more time but we were on a bigger trip with a tight schedule. Depending on where you were in the park we either had no cell signal, or 1 bar of AT&T. I was teased with 2 bars for about 1 minute.
