This is a secluded state park with a mix of site quality. There were some gorgeous sites by the lake, but we couldn't get anywhere close to level in them or maneuver around the trees, even with our 25' trailer. The park was built in the 30s, and has a distinctively "Dirty Dancing" 50s family retreat vibe with a mini golf course and paddle boats, which we kind of dug. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here, but I'd stop through if I was in the area and grab one of the paved sites closer to the front. Cell signal was nil. Lots of trails around here, and the walk-in tent sites looked cool and those are connected to a ton of back country hiking. Just not the greatest park for RV'ers.

We camped here in early March, so some of the loops were closed. Please bear in mind that my rating is based only on this experience. We would have preferred something on gravel near the water, but we got a paved pad with close neighbors and not much of view (closest loop to the check-in station). That's something to keep in mind if you camp during off-peak seasons. We did have water and 30 amp electricity, but no sewage hook-up. I'm sure this place can accommodate large rigs. The staff picked up trash at each site every day, which was a bonus. There was a fire ring. Our site was right next to the camp host in that loop, but he/she didn't appear to be there at the time, and there was a large, loud group of folks camping near us which didn't help our experience. I can't remember seeing a bathroom near our site, but I know we walked by some bathrooms in the other loops. While the actual camp site did not offer much, the park was quite large and very pretty. We were able to walk all around the lake. There was a swimming area with paddle boats (closed at that time of year). I'm thinking this state park would be good for folks with kids in the summer. For hikers, the Foothills Trail is not very far from this park. I believe there is also a lot of white water rafting in the area. AT&T coverage was in and out.

Great campground with two lakes with lots to do in park including mini golf, boating and swimming on the larger lake, hiking trails, part of the Campground is paved for larger campers with the lake front sites gravel and better for tents and small campers. Nearby are two waterfall hikes, station falls and Upper Whitewater Falls. I recommend this popular campground.

This is one of the older, CCC-constructed state parks. It could use some updating but is a good spot to camp if you are into a more rustic environment. The sites tend to be somewhat close together, and some are sloped enough to require serious leveling. There are amenities for children in season including programs, a mini golf course, and a playground along with a swimming pond. The Trading Post mostly sells souvenirs and snacks so don’t count on it for essentials. There is a Dollar General a few miles south on SC 107 that sells good firewood and groceries.

The bathhouses have screened openings and make for brisk showers in cooler weather. The electrical hookups are 30 amp, and the water pressure was good. While the park is a bit tired, we would stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay here. The bath houses are well maintained and clean and the camp sites were clean and well maintained. It’s easy to access and so many great hikes are right nearby. Camp staff pick up trash at your campsite twice a day. Including recycling. Friendly staff and hosts.

This is a great campground. Sites are very roomy. The park rangers make their rounds every couple of hours. Very clean. They have a small mini golf, playground, lake activities. They have insane hiking trails from beginner to 76 miles. I do not remember seeing a laundry facility. Would definitely come back.

There are some good RV sites, 107, 109, 112. But most re crowded and badly sloped, even if paved. The best sites are for tents. Laundry is closed. Wifi only at office, otherwise no cell. Good hiking trails lead from campground. Staff is most pleasant and accommodating. All together a great place to stay.

Nice, large sites but navigation through the park is a little tight for big rigs. There are few trees that seem to be in the way when pulling out of most sites, just go slow and watch. The park itself is beautiful, especially in the fall at peak color! Close to a handful of waterfalls and great hiking trails. It is on the Foothills trail, so a good stop for those hiking that trail.

All sites have elect and water. Many have full hookups. Much improvements since our last visit two years ago. Many gravel sites are now paved. Not many level sites and some have steep entrances. WIFI only at office. Trash is picked up twice a day at your site. Complete children's playground including mini-golf adjoining campground. Great hiking around the lake and further afield up the mountains.
