“a quintessential New England experience”

What is Mystic Seaport? Ask three people and chances are you’ll get three very different answers. To some, it’s a fun family destination offering hands-on activities and special events. To others, it’s a world-renowned maritime museum featuring exhibit halls and historical interpreters. And to still others, it’s an incredibly valuable education and research center. In fact, it’s all three – located within 19 charming acres on the banks of Connecticut’s legendary Mystic River. A quintessential New England experience, Mystic Seaport offers visitors of all ages a unique link to our seafaring past and endless, year-round opportunities to immerse themselves in new worlds of hands-on history.

Mystic Seaport is a lot of fun. You could easily spend an entire day there There are several different parts to visit including going on a whaling boat and inside a lighthouse. Throughout the day there are events such as harpooning and rope making. It is on the expensive side and the price can quickly add up if you want to take a boat ride, visit the planetarium, or participate in craft making.

Hours of fun for the whole family! Take a trip back to the 19 century and enjoy learning and seeing many things. You can explore old ships, learn about the smith shop, take a carriage ride, and many other things. Buy the mystic passport and gain admission to the aquarium also and get your receipt validated and return again within a few days.

Quaint little town, great for a quick stop or extended stay. We just stopped in for dinner, but it was worth the side trip and we could see ourselves coming back to stay in a local hotel.

Set on 19 acres of historic grounds, the Mystic Seaport Museum and Village sits on the west bank of the Mystic River in the heart of town. Great for kids and adults alike, the museum features rotating gallery exhibits, an operational shipyard, original 19th century ship cabin and more.

We think a visit here is one of the best things to do in Mystic, CT!

We were just driving through on a trip up the coast in early November. If it was warmer and we had more time to spend I could see this being a neat spot to explore and just hang out in.
