“nestled on Sand Hill Cove Road”

The 27-acre Roger Wheeler State Beach is nestled on Sand Hill Cove Road, and it has two massive parking lots and a RIPTA bus stop for easy public access. A small playground area is also at the beach, making it more kid-friendly than other area beaches. The facility was renamed in 1970 in honor of Captain Roger W. Wheeler, who developed the Rhode Island lifesaving system.

We drove up the coast visiting a lot of New England beaches, parks, and lighthouses. This was a decent beach, but not one of our favorites in Rhode Island.
