“Tasty coffee goodness perfected”
Imagine a chemistry lab and a coffee shop combined. That's the type of ingenuity and creativity that's in the air at the Parlour. Lots of seating, great pour-over setup, good atmosphere.
In the world of coffee, Barista stands out for having a deep menu of multiple roasts and using a bevy of essential brewing equipment. Cups are brewed at a lengthy coffee bar set at the center of the shop using a variety of roast-appropriate methods. You can also order from a small selection of pastries and breakfast sandwiches. The second location, which owner Andy Mumma will open in the Gulch in collaboration with the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach this fall, will feature its own roastery.
A friend of mine from Portland, Oregon, said it best: "If you'd blindfolded me and dropped me here without any info, I'd be certain I was still in Portland." This is hipster paradise in Nashville. Great coffee, though, and the decor and atmosphere are actually really relaxing and inviting. If you're looking for Counter Culture, Handsome, Intelligentsia, Stumptown, etc., you've found them.
Hip, kind, and yummy.
This giant warehouse space converted into a workspace and café has long wooden plank tables atop rust and mahogony colored concrete floors. The urban farmhouse decor and use of mixed medias create an inviting space. A wall of garage doors leads to the outside patio area. The baristas brew from the center of the space in a reclaimed wood paneled sector with laboratory glasswares set up to enhance your brew, I presume. Try the semi-sweet mocha iced latte. Served in a glass shaped beer can, you can actually taste the bits of fresh dark cacao in your coffee and it is exquisite.
The food was ok, and the coffee was delicious but the wait time was absolutely inexcusable for a simple latte.
I worked as a barista for 3 years and it really should not take 25 minutes to make a latte. We ordered take away food and 2 lattes and our food was cooked from scratch arrived, we lost our patience, found a table and sat down, unwrapped our food and ate it entirely and our coffee was still not ready.
Maybe if they were not so focused on being pretentiously hipster they could actually be good, but I won't be trying it again to find out.
I drank way too much coffee here. The iced cherry cola coffee was my favourite alongside the homemade poptarts.
Really cool fit out. East Nashville has got it going on!
