“A Nashville Tradition Since 1951.”

For more than 65 years, the Loveless Cafe has been offering families and friends a place where they can enjoy a home-cooked, Southern meal and reconnect with each other around the table.

It all started in 1951 when Lon and Annie Loveless opened their front doors to sell fried chicken and biscuits to hungry travelers on Highway 100 in Nashville. Their homemade Southern dishes became so popular that they converted their home into a restaurant and built a 14-room motel for overnight guests. Lon stayed busy managing the motel and curing and smoking country hams, while Annie whipped up made-from-scratch biscuits and preserves in the kitchen. Today, so many people come to taste the famous biscuits that the cafe is now making up to 10,000 every day!

Since the early days with Lon and Annie, the Loveless Cafe has continued to add new ways for visitors to enjoy the Nashville landmark, while always staying true to its Southern roots. The motel rooms that Lon managed are now quaint shops full of signature gifts for visitors to take home. For larger gatherings, two event spaces were added – the Barn and the Harpeth Room – where the Loveless Events team infuses its distinctive Southern hospitality into creating one-of-a-kind weddings, celebrations, meetings and more. The dedicated catering team also goes on the road, bringing its broad talents to kitchens, offices and venues throughout the Nashville area.

The Loveless Cafe is proud to be a cherished ingredient in Nashville’s rich history. Visit www.lovelesscafe.com for more information.

Hands down the best restaurant in Nashville. Featured by everyone from Martha Stewart to Bobby Flay, this is entirely authentic Southern cuisine. And although the institutional biscuit lady has passed, the place still churns out thousands of biscuits daily. Be careful if you go on Sunday for lunch though. A 2 hour wait is considered short.

This place was somewhat cool to visit, but the food was terrible. I ordered the fried chicken with garlic mashed red potatoes (the "vegetable" of the day) and turnip greens and my mom ordered chicken fried steak with gravy and green beans. The gravy that came with her steak had NO pepper in it whatsoever (a main component of chicken fried steak gravy), and my gravy tasted like it came out of a box. The meat was cooked perfectly - crispy and juicy - but had hardly ANY seasoning. The vegetables were a bit overseasoned (super salty and spicy) but I much preferred that to the bland chicken and steak. The biscuits and jam were good, but not being a biscuit person, I was severely disappointed after reading all the rave reviews. This was definitely not worth a 30 minute (there and back) detour off of my trip.

That being said, the moonshine fueled drinks are delicious and strong (I got the "Blue Moon") and the area is cool to check out. There are a few little souvenir and food shops, plus a gallery that was closed when we arrived at 5PM on a Monday. Go for the atmosphere if you must, but don't get your hopes up about dinner. Maybe the breakfast is better.

Go for the drinks and atmosphere, but don't expect amazing southern food.

Delicious biscuits and fun atmosphere. Even as vegetarians, we were able to find some tasty options to get a good sampling of southern cooking. My son ordered the pancakes for dinner (they're huge!), Which I got a chance to try. They were the best pancakes I have ever tasted! Wish we had more time to go back for breakfast!

Directed here by a local State Trooper so we knew it would be great. A 5 mile jaunt off of I40 and 45 minute wait (on a Friday) were well worth it. Had fried chicken and biscuits of course. The jams and preserves are delicious. Don't miss it. Lots to explore and do while you wait ;).

Stopped here and it had a 45 min wait which we expected. What we didn't expect was the little shops to be able to go in with the table beeper while we waited. Really made the wait time go by quick!! Great customer service and of course awesome food!!

We stopped here on our way out of Tennessee. It was absolutely delicious! Wish we lived closer! We actually didn't have a long wait time (August 2014). We had breakfast items, of course! Would highly recommend stopping and eating here.

Long ride out to the cafe, long wait for food, but fun to walk around the motel and drive down the Natchez Trace.

Touting the Southern tradition of ham and biscuits and golden-fried chicken, the Loveless Café is worth the 30-minute back-road drive from Downtown. Fill up on classics like fried catfish or chicken livers, then pop into the neighboring country market and pick up some biscuit mix to take home.
