“in the heart of New Orleans”

The French Quarter RV Resort is conveniently located in the heart of downtown New Orleans, less than a ¼ mile from I-10 Exit 235A and within short walking distance of the French Quarter and several other major tourist attractions. We maintain 24 hour on-site management and security. Our facility operates much like a luxury hotel in the French Quarter, catering to all types of RVs. Accordingly, our rates are event driven and the average stay is 3-4 nights.

French Quarter RV Resort - Amazing Location! Pool and Hot Tub!

Great location within walking distance of Bourbon Street, but far enough way to be quiet at night. But, not too quiet, as it is immediately adjacent the interstate. However, with the AC on, it drowned out the noise okay.

The “Standard” spots are right up against the highway, and offer all hookups. The other spots are nicer and have patios, bbq’s, even a couple with a bar and TV.

We only stayed for one night, but it was well worth a couple more to explore the city.

Also, they have 24hr security, high spiked walls, and a gate. Extremely safe atmosphere.

{Visited French Quarter RV Feb. 2-5, 2015}

If you want to experience the heart and soul of New Orleans, this is your campground. You can't camp any closer to the action unless you're homeless.

Let me be clear: French Quarter RV isn't your state park campground shrouded in a canopy of oaks; quite the opposite actually. It's City Slicker Camping - a place to rest your head after a long night of sazeracs and jazz clubs.

We're the outdoorsy types who usually seek out forested campgrounds with swimming holes, but this was our first visit to NOLA and we enjoyed the convenience of being so close to the Big Easy's main attractions - and I don't mean Bourbon Street. Go anywhere but Bourbon Street and you'll have an amazing time in this historic, vibrant town.

FQRV is technically located on the border of the French Quarter and Treme neighborhood, but it's a reasonable walk to the heart of the French Quarter. If you don't want to walk, call a cab and they'll pick you up at your campsite (the front desk can help arrange it for you).

If you look at the campground on Google Maps, you'll see that it is right next to I-10, but we didn't find it to be noisy (we weren't even running the A/C). When in the camper, we listened to the soulful sounds of 90.7 FM WOZZ, the local public radio station, which also announces a community calendar that will help you find live music throughout the city.

FQRV has full hookups, gated with 24-hour management/security, a pool and hot tub, restrooms with showers, fitness room, coin operated laundry facilities, and an industrial ice machine [SCORE!]. We found everything to be clean and functional. The staff was friendly and helpful.

It's pet friendly, but there's not much grass within the campground, so bring your bags. We enjoyed walking our dogs over to Armstrong Park (less than 10 minute walk each way), which has a lovely French cafe across the street, Mister Gregory's, great for breakfast or lunch.

We used our Passport America and AAA discount to get a reduced rate, but it's still on the pricey side. However, it's cheaper than a hotel and you have all the the comforts of your home sweet home on wheels.

Be sure to visit our blog at RivetedRoost.com for details on all the NOLA attractions and restaurants that we enjoyed during our stay in the Crescent City.

It was totally worth it to us to pay the extra money to stay at the French Quarter RV Resort while visiting New Orleans. We were able to walk or take a trolley everywhere we wanted to go.

The RV park is in the city, so there is some city noise. We blocked it out by running the fan on our A/C whenever we were home.

Campsites are decent sized and are paved with tiles, which give a nicer appearance than concrete or asphalt pads.

We appreciated soaking in the jacuzzi after long days of walking. It was clean and empty both times we used it.

The laundry room was a little expensive but also clean.

We never felt unsafe, the park is gated with metal spikes on the walls and there is 24/7 security.

FYI they no longer offer Passport America or AAA discounts.

What previous posters have said is spot on, so I will try to not repeat what they said, but add some other info.

The rv park is next to I-10, so the closer your site is to the interstate the noisier it will be. The west side backs up to buildings that run AC compressors and the east side is bordered by a park. Sirens blair 24/7, about every fifteen minutes. You are in the city. Just bring ear plugs if you need them. You can't reserve a spot, but I did ask for a site away from the interstate, since we don't have AC. We lucked out with a perfect spot for us.

This is an easy off and on location to I-10. If you do come across the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway it will dump you off on the left side of a five lane highway and you need to cross all the lanes to exit in a short distance. So don't do what we did, try another route into the city. NOLA drivers show no patience.

If you do a van tour of the city, our company picked us up at the RV site. The "Hop on and Off Tour Bus" and public transportation is a few blocks from the campground.

There are not a lot of restaurants nearby, at least we didn't find any, but the front desk will tell you which ones in the area will deliver, if you don't want to go out in the evening.

It is highly recommended you take a taxi at night. It fine to walk in the area during the day. There is trash strewn about, but that is true with most of NOLA.

The dog walking area in the campground is tiny, but the Lafitte Linear Park is across the street. There is a bike path and many people were running too. Just be careful of broken glass, etc if you are walking your dog.

The wifi at the campground works best if you sit in the lobby or pool area. Cell service with Verizon was fine and we didn't use our WeBoost.

If you want to live *in* the city, and walk to the French Quarter each night, this is your one and only place. Cheaper than a hotel room, but easily the most costly RV park you will find outside of California. FQRV is immaculate though. Perfect grass, perfect sites, perfect showers... you are getting what you paid for here. Only down side was the highway right overhead.

Again, you get what you pay for. This place is astronomically priced at $108, but given the options in New Orleans, worth the $. The cost keeps out the riff-raff (sorry, riff-raff… but I doubt you know who you are), and affords a true resort in the city. The place is not huge, but it is beautiful. Main building looks very NOLA, all brick and ironwork. The drives and spaces are all patterned brick, cobblestone and grass, lots of places for hot-paws to walk, large sites (I paced one pad at 48’), with double wide for your toad or all the set up you would like. They are all back in, so if you’ve not learned to back your rig yet, NOLA is not the place for you. Great hook ups (even those are pretty pedestals), ground level dump access (no walking that line… one of my peeves), the best cable I’ve encountered in all my travels, but no Wi-Fi except in the office. They had band-sucker issues and are working on a solution. They do have extra amenities like an ice machine, a lovely air conditioned Lobby, a very well equipped and beautiful computer room/office for guests, and beautiful screened gazebos in some of the sites. There is a lovely pool in a French Quarter type courtyard feel, with cascade jacuzzi and a very well equipped work out room, as well as a small laundry. The office is helpful and professional, booking tours and such, and called me when a package I had ordered was delivered. The main plus of this place is, of course, the location; which is what you’re paying for. It is a very short walk to the Hop on Hop Off bus terminal (3 minutes; basically across a parking lot), which takes you all over the city. It is a very manageable walk (15 minutes) to downtown, Bourbon Street, the Garden District, or the river. Right outside the gate is an inner-city park with loads of grass and a nice walk, if you’re comfortable with inner city parks. Caught a great basketball game with some of the local kids, and discovered the stable area right across the park where the city Carriage Horses are stabled! Neat to look in at all the carriages and get my pony fix. Reviews about the area are over dramatic. I would not walk it alone at night, no. But then, there are few unfamiliar places I would walk at night alone. This is, indeed, the perfect place to see New Orleans if you’re an RV’er.

As everyone else says, this is an ideal (and unique) choice if you’re looking to experience NoLa without having to drive in and out and park. We’ve actually stayed here several times and love the location.

My only comments would be that you’re paying exclusively for the location. It would be easy for these guys to up their game at this price point, but they don’t need to, and it shows. There’s no WiFi other than in the office (despite the small size of this park which would make it super easy to cover), the laundry room was filthy as were the machines, the sites are all brick pavers, which look great, but are staring to sink and heave and make the sites not quite level and finally, the staff have a very clear “we’re the only game in town” attitude.

All that said, there’s no better place to park your RV if you’re visiting the French Quarter.

Nice, clean site! Excellent upkeep! Very close to the French quarter and nice amenities for relaxation. Jacuzzi was nice although it was not very hot on our second night and the owner said it was as high as it could go. (Weird because we could only handle 20 minutes the day before and could not get warm on this night.) No campfires allowed. Expensive, but worth it for us to splurge.

The price point goes without saying because the location is unbeatable if you want to be 2 blocks to the French Quarter shops and restaurants. Not having a tow vehicle, this is always a consideration for us and we will pay for this luxury. The RV park is right off I-10 and there are signs guiding you to the entrance.

We did arrive on the last day of the Jazz Festival (Sunday) and they still charged us premium price for that night, I think $170-ish. Ouch. That wasn't cool since why should they charge for the last day of the festival that's packing up and the RV park was practically empty anyway. Maybe time your trip around such fluff. I knew it in advance, but that was the date we needed to check-in so we ate it.

Check-in was very easy and the office staff was pleasant and helpful. The park itself felt safe- they have a gated, coded entry and barbed wire along the top of the cinder block wall that surrounds the park. It's very clean and they have nice, roomy restrooms where you get your own room with shower/toilet/sink to yourself. The grounds are meticulous. The office building is nice looking, New Orleans style. They have lots of travel brochures and tour info. There is a nice pool, although we didn't use it. Laundry facilities were nice and clean. There is general city noise and some freeway hum, although we were on the office end of the park so it wasn't bothersome. It may be louder if you're on the freeway side.

If this is your first time to NOLA (it was ours), this town is not for the weak. There are transients and locals hanging out everywhere, including those 2 blocks between the RV park and the Bourbon Street area. Stick to the main streets (no short-cuts), especially after dark. We had no problems. You can always cab a ride to and from the RV park if you are not comfortable.

When we'd had enough of the smell of garbage and urine in French Quarter, we walked about 4 blocks to Enterprise on Canal Street to rent a car. We drove out to the Houmas House Plantation and also took an air boat tour in the same area- maybe 45 minutes out of the city. It's a nice day trip and there are a lot of historic sites to see. We also drove to the Lafayette Cemetery in the Garden District. They don't charge to enter the cemetery, as most of the others in French Quarter force you to pay and take a tour. We just wanted to wander and it was nice.

Our last day there, we walked to the Canal St. Ferry Terminal and took the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen cruise down to the Chalmette Battlefield and back. Great way to see the sights and the narrator tells a lot of history as you pass the locations along the river.

If we ever find ourselves back in New Orleans, we would stay here again. I dinged them a star because of the premium price they charged on the closing day of the festival. That's a policy that can easily be changed.

I will admit, I was sort of nervous as we pulled into town and pulled into the RV resort. The surrounding area around the resort isn’t the best. However, once I pulled into the park, I quickly realized why it was rated so high. Despite the I-10 noise and typical major city noises, the park is beautiful, fully gated and barbwires around the entire perimeter fence line. I originally booked a premium site, which came with a screened porch but I didn’t like that it backed up to a wall. The wall backed to a street and sidewalk and I am overly sensitive about safety. So, I asked to be moved to a back-in on the interior row. We were placed on a site very close to the office/pool/laundry and it put us right in the heart of the park. We enjoyed our visit and highly recommend the WW2 museum in New Orleans. It was recommended to us and we were somewhat apprehensive about going but we were glad we did.
