“a sophisticated casual eatery”
Located in the picturesque Vieux Carre on the corner of North Rampart and St. Philip Streets, Meauxbar Bistro is a sophisticated casual eatery. A typical evening finds a eclectic mix of quarterites, uptowners and other locals as well as out of town visitors. This stylish local neighborhood bistro is the second restaurant venture designed, owned, and operated by partners James Conte and Matthew Guidry; the team behind the popular Paradise Restaurant in Sag Harbor, New York from September 1995 until December 2000. A graduate of the French Culinary Institute in New York City, chef/owner Matthew’s modern bistro menu features classic French, Louisiana regional and Colonial Indochine dishes inspired by travels abroad. Meauxbar brings a truly unique selection of delicious and healthy dishes using only the freshest seasonally available meats, seafoods, and produce. The name Meauxbar Bistro pays homage to Matthew’s French speaking great grandparents Adam and Ozite Meaux who raised his father Edes in the rural Cajun community of Meaux .
