“weirdest museum in the world”
For seven years, Morbid Anatomy has seen thousands of visitors, both online and in our 300 square foot library in the Gowanus. The Morbid Anatomy Museum will be a new 4,200 square foot non-profit institution dedicated to the exhibition of artifacts and ideas which fall between the cracks of high and low culture, art and science, beauty and death. An expansion of the programming now featured in the Morbid Anatomy Library, the new Morbid Anatomy Museum will be a nimble institution that can host the kind of temporary exhibitions that very few larger museums can produce. It will host shows, both large and small, based on private and public collections and calling on the scholarship and expertise of the greater Morbid Anatomy community. Our permanent collection will showcase memorial arts from around the world, moulages, wax models, natural history specimens, and uncanny artworks and artifacts that provoke curiosity and wonder.
