“Barcelona style tapas bar”

Boqueria restaurants were inspired by the best tapas bars in Barcelona. Bars such as Xampanyet, Vinya del Senor, Ciudad Condal and others where one can go at any time of night for a beer, glass of wine, and perhaps the best fast food known to man are institutions in a city known for its devotion to epicurean delights.  Our chefs offer a wide variety of "market fresh" specials offering a typically Spanish take on the best of the week's market, in addition to our everyday menu of perennial favorites such as "Datiles con Beicon", "Patatas Bravas", and other tapas. Boqueria is frequently mentioned in the conversation as to who has the "best gin and tonic." There are two varieties on the menu. One is made with high end tonic and gin, and includes lime and basil. The other is again made with high end gin and tonic water, but with the addition of wine grapes and oranges.

What the table ordered: (5 people)
4 Patxaran, 2 Damm Tubo, 2 sangria, tortilla española, pimientos de padron, 2 pinxto moruno, extra moruno, gambas al ajillo, serrano segovia, mejillones, pulpo en escabeche, valdeón, mel i mató, cafe solo, 2 cortados, carajillo

Cost of entire meal: $211.22

My 2 cents: Since I'm a big fan of tapas (and I've had the amazing opportunity to try the real deal in Spain), I would say I was satisfied but not blown away. The ambiance is nice, with low lighting and warm colors. The bar immediately off to right did remind me a little of tapas bars in Spain, and it was nostalgic to see the Serrano ham hanging from the window in the front. I appreciated that the menu was diverse and offered a range of tapas, meats, and cheeses that rang familiar from the bars in Pamplona. Our service was on point as well. However, I wasn't overly impressed by the taste of the food itself. The presentation was great, as you can see from the photos. But the flavor of the dishes, in my opinion, won't necessarily have me running back next time I'm in SoHo.
