Brooklyn based Cacao Prieto produces a bean-to-bar chocolate made fresh daily from the finest single origin Dominican Cacao and organic Dominican sugar cane. The result is a revelation - melding the lingering complexity of the finest burgundy with the lush textures and deep satisfaction which define the world's great chocolates. The complexity comes from the organic cacao beans that Cacao Prieto harvests from their family orchard, Coralina Farms, in the Dominican Republic. The heirloom varieties of trees in these orchards can be directly traced back to the cacao that Columbus first planted on Hispañola more than 500 years ago. They have a unique flavor profile and a fruity acidity reflecting the spice notes and the sun drenched, lush hillsides of the Dominican country side. Cacao Prieto then hand crafts their chocolate from the first roasting to the final packaging in their factory in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Each step along the way is executed according to the highest standards creating a chocolate that excels in purity and has no need for additional oils, emulsifiers or flavoring. From this flawless product, Cacao Prieto's master chocolatier has created chocolate bars with imaginative and delicious combinations of all natural ingredients and a line of bonbons in wondrous flavors. The chocolate bars are all handsomely packaged with collectible artwork by Brooklyn artist Sophie Blackall that illustrate fanciful anecdotes from the Prieto family history.
