Cafe Grumpy

The Café Grumpy Roastery has been an integral part of the cafe since 2009 allowing customers to gain a unique perspective on the roasting process. With three certified Q Graders on staff and a focus on quality, we work together to select green beans from socially and environmentally responsible producers. We then spend time developing roast profiles to bring out the dynamic nuances in the beans. After roasting, we cup each batch to assure consistent quality. Next door to the Lower East Side store is the Café Grumpy Bakery. This is where we bake all of the pastries and goodies that you find at our cafes. We use fresh seasonal ingredients from local farms and use organic products wherever possible. We are focused on creating unique and delicious items that pair well with coffee & tea – often using the tasting notes of the coffee as inspiration.
