“One of the creepiest places in Ohio”

Within the walls of this fortress, 3 Sheriffs died, 6 inmates committed suicide, infamous murderers were housed, including "The Hand Saw Slayer", "The 22 Caliber Serial Killers", "The Proposal Day Murderer" and many more. "Carl Etherington", a Dry-Agent Detective was being held here for protection as an angry mob of over a thousand people gathered and rammed the North entrance of the jail. They stormed to the second floor cell block where Etherington was being held and beat him to death with a sledgehammer. The mob then dragged his body out of the jail and up to the Southeast side of the Town Square where they lynched him to a telegraph pole. It is said that nearly 5,000 people including women and children all came to take a peek at the hanging agent. "Laura Devlin" a 72 year old women who went mad and killed her husband then cut his arms and legs off with a hand saw and placed his arms and head in her oven and cooked them. Perhaps you should visit the Old Jail and see for yourself. The Paranormal Functions at the Ol' Jail managed by the United Paranormal Project who also manage the Twin City Opera House in McConnelsville, Ohio and the Bryn Du Mansion in Granville, Ohio.  The Old Jail is Wheelchair Accessible on the 1st floor only. There is no working elevator in the building. Outside there is a ramp that runs along the South side of the building around to the Front (West) Entry way. The first floor Sheriff Offices, living quarters and the 1st floor cell block are all accessible by a Wheelchair. The building offers both private and public overnight ghost hunts, both lasting from 9PM to 4AM. Visit the website for more information.
