“A Truly Unique Camping Experience!”

Chattahoochee Bend State Park showcases a spectacular tract of wilderness in northwest Coweta County.  Located in a graceful bend of the Chattahoochee River, the park is a haven for paddlers, campers and anglers.  At 2,910 acres, Chattahoochee Bend is one of Georgia’s largest state parks, protecting five miles of river frontage.  A boat ramp provides easy access to the water, while more than six miles of wooded trails are open for hiking and nature photography.  An observation platform provides nice views of the river and forest.   Although most of the park has been left in its natural state, campers have many options for staying overnight within park boundaries.  RV owners will enjoy the camping section with sunny pull-through and back-in sites.  Tent campers can choose from riverfront platform sites, walk-in sites and traditional developed campsites.  The park even offers screened Adirondack-style shelters for families and groups who want a unique camping experience.  Bathhouses with hot showers are a short walk from most campsites.  Covered picnic shelters may be rented for birthday parties, reunions and other gatherings.

If you want a quiet and clean place to spend some time in your camper, then this is a great place to do it. We live in Georgia and went here to take our maiden voyage in our new camper. The experience was great and we will definitely go there again. We were in a pull-through site, with hard-packed area for the camper and truck. There was a gravel area adjacent to the parking pad, with a picnic table, fire ring (with a grate for cooking) and a pole for hanging a lantern, torch, etc.

There is also a $5.00 park fee that is in addition to the site price, but that cost goes away if you have an annual state park pass.

Sites have water and electricity, but no sewer. But there are two dump stations at the entry to the camping area. The facilities are modern and relatively new, with private showering stalls and a small laundry facility.

Our site had no cell service (ATT) and no TV reception, but that was a plus for us.

We tent-camped here over TG weekend. There are basically 4 separate camping areas in this park.

Campground 1 is dedicated to RVs and has 50, 30 and 20 amp service. It's more open than wooded but still a pleasant place to stay. The sites are spacious and seem to have lots of clearance for large RVs. There are back-in and pull-thru spaces.

Campground 2 has water and 110 power but is dedicated to tent camping. There are drive-up sites and a cluster of walk-ins. We chose a walk-in to give us a little extra space for our dogs.
Finally, there are 2 walk-in only areas. The 1st has platforms and normal spaces close to the river. No power or water at this area. The bathhouse is maybe 50 yards away. The 2nd walk-in was under construction while we were there; it's a mile or so upriver and quite removed from the other areas of the park.

The entire park is well maintained and has a new-ish feel to it. The bathrooms are cleaner than we're used to seeing in public spaces! There are well-marked hiking trails; but only those along the river are at all interesting. There are also launches for paddlers and lots of spots for fishermen. The river is slow, flat and wide in this section.

A newish addition here are mountain biking trails. They're not long and we didn't try them but they appear well planned.
One more nice thing: you can safely run here for a decent number of miles without leaving the park. There was not much traffic when were were there and the trails are also runner-friendly.

The park seems safe as well. They lock the gate at night (you'll have a code), the Ranger's residence is across from CG 2. There are hosts at both 1 and 2.

We stayed here two nights at one of the pull-through sites at campground 1. They have 50amp and water hookups at each site, but a sewer dump only at the entrance of each campground loop.

The whole place was clean and tidy. The staff was helpful. They sold firewood. And for $1 wash and $1 dry in their single washer and dryer, it was totally worth it to throw in a load of laundry!

We enjoyed the trails, saw a few deer, and liked watching the river. We were also serenaded by owls one evening and we *think* we heard coyotes nearby. That was cool!

Cell service wasn't awesome, but it was adequate.

We'd stay here again.

I had the most peaceful time here. Quiet, safe, clean with lots of trails to walk. Come here with everything you need as civilization is literally miles away. The washrooms are spotless, theres an amazing kids playground, up to date washer and dryer. The campground host was helpful and friendly wihout being pushy.

This small state park is in Newnan, Georgia.  The drive was fun because we stayed off the highways and tried to enjoy the small towns. We stopped at a railroad  crossing and watched as a huge train was moved forward and back by its engines while it took on cargo. The engines were enormous and so powerful!

The state park is relatively new. We stayed at campground #1, site #102. The sites were very close together here.  There wasn't a lot of privacy and a neighbor's dog barked while they were off somewhere for a while. No biggie, but not the peace and quiet we've experienced in other parks. There were many nice people that we met, though.  We enjoyed the hike by the Chattahoochee River.  They had a very sweet lending library that was maintained well.

Two nights here during a stormy period in February; lots of wind and rain. Sites are great and the amenities are pretty good too. Would have been nice to explore trails, but there was a lot of red mud. Town is quite a drive.

*Price reflects senior discount. Nothing much to add to other reviews. We stayed for 2 weeks in March/April visiting family. Be sure to bring everything you need because services in the form of a dollar store and convenience store are 6-7 winding miles away. Weekends are starting to get noisy with increased numbers, but during the week it was delightful. We loved our site next to the woods and we’ll be back!

Everything is new. The park is only eight years old. The sites are pretty big and have a great distance between them. Most even have trees in between each site, dense enough to provide privacy and a sound barrier for normal living nose. Great playground. Designed as a Ninja warrior style obstacle course. It's an Hr from Atlanta but a very easy drive through back roads mostly. Well worth the drive to be out of the traffic of Atlanta. We will be staying here any time we want to visit Atlanta.
