“Live original music and booze to boot”
Converted church into concert venue and bar... The Southgate House Revival is a must visit for any music lovers in the Cincinnati area. The bar is open every day of the week at 4pm, and the lounge venue offers free music seven nights a week unless there is a whole-house event.
This is a great place to catch a show or grab a beer and escape the normal club vibe which is Newport on the levy. They have 3 rooms with stages, but it's the main chapel space which is the coolest and biggest. As a converted church, the acoustics can be hit or miss, I've seen rock bands sound great, and bluegrass sound awful, and vice versa, so it really depends on the night and how savvy the sound man is. Anyways, this is likely my favorite current venue in the area, and on Mondays you might catch me at their open mic, which is IMO one of the best around.
While I have only been to the bar/poolroom/stage room of this cool converted church, I can say that I loved it's authentic feel - the music was great - and the drinks were well priced.
Pretty nice music spot in the Cincy area. I've played a few shows here and always have a good time. You can have 3 different bands playing in 3 different rooms at once which is amazing for the location. My biggest problem is the big room sounds horrible. So much reverb, it's impossible to sound perfect. Although it is a beautiful room, depending on the band, it can sometimes be almost painful to hear.
Easily my favorite venue in the Cincinnati area. It has 3 areas for shows depending on the size needed. The big room is my favorite because there are beautiful stained glass windows in the background behind the stage that give each show a unique feel.
Southgate House Revival is a great place to see shows. While the sound can be tricky, the ambiance of the building is spectacular and the staff is always friendly. The stained glass windows in the main room certainly take every show to another level and I've never had a bad experience in all of the countless times I've visited.
This, now venue, is actually pretty sweet. Good (and bad) bands will come and play here but it's easy to find parking around Newport and there are local spots to hit up and grab a drink before hand
