Fresh seafood, burgers, deli sandwiches 8 taps, spirits and wine. Casual, friendly and inviting. Dog friendly outdoor patio too!
I asked the desk clerk at my hotel for an eating recommendation and she suggested I walk north on Elizabeth Street. There are a number of places not far from Elizabeth Street Inn. Given I was solo, I elected a moderately-priced venue so The Deep End Café got the nod.
It was a bustling Saturday evening, so I had to wait just a few minutes for a seat. They had no issue with my service dog, who promptly went under the table and settled in. Even with the busy evening, I was treated well and received good attention.
The house Cabernet was much better than I expected. The clam chowder was quite good. The Shrimp Louie was also good and I was thankful for the salad. I ordered the blackberry cobbler for dessert. It was excellent. The only cobbler I've had that is better is the one my mother-in-law makes. I used to help pick the blackberries that went into those cobblers. That makes me smile.
They messed up delivery of my coffee (arrived late, just as I finished dessert) so the waiter comped my coffee, which I appreciated. The coffee was a dark roast and was good.
I'd recommend this place again. It might not be top-shelf, but it is very good for its price point.
