Tired of the same nights at Seven47, hammering back 3.2% beers, and listening to a music collection comprised of hits perpetually 6 months behind? The LIneage. The people that have brought us Norman staples such as Blu, Library, and the Brewhouse, have finally staked there claim in campus corner real estate, with a new venture called Blackbird Gastropub. What is a Gastropub and why do I care? A gastropub for those of you that are unfamiliar simply refers to a restaurant and bar that serves fine beer and fine food. With Brewhouse and Blu's beers on the menu the selection will be ample, far bigger than what we expect from campus corner. The truth is Seven47 only offers 3.2 ABV beers. You know that Oklahoma shit.. even if you pay the extra for say a corona it doesn't matter. From Blackbird expect more, their beers (aside from domestics) will all be around the 6% Texas standard that we all know and love. With some beers such as Coop's DNR peaking at 10.3%. Blackbirds will also feature a full service bar. This all calculates out to you getting more bang for your buck. When does it open? April 18th, 2011 Environment? Ever hear friends from other schools talk about their nightlife? Bragging about live music and better prices on booze. Places like Austin, Fayetville, and Lawrence have establishments that offer both. Seven47 and Fuzzies are not living up to the standard of the bar attending students at this university. We are what makes Fuzzies and Seven47 fun, however, Blackbird has elevated the standard to a new level, with better drink specials, and a live music environment that is void on campus. *** I am not an offical spokeperson for Blackbird
