“Hank Williams Memorial site”
The mission of the Oak Hill Public Library is to provide the members of our community with access to materials which can improve their minds, enrich their lives and fulfill their informational, educational and recreational needs. The library upholds the principles of intellectual freedom and provides information and materials which reflect different points of view. Hank Williams was discovered to have died in the backseat of his car when his driver pulled in to a now defunct gas station in Oak Hill. A plaque in front of the library (across the street from the former gas station) commemorates this.
this monument and the library are actually at the intersection of Maple ave, Main st, and Lundale dr. Across the street, the concrete slab and greasey remains of a lift cylinder are all that's left of the gas station.
