Walk where both the Chumash and Dunites walked. See and learn what attracted both cultures to this beautiful dune area. Binoculars are suggested. Bring a picnic meal, water, sunscreen and windbreaker. Meet at the Nature Center at the entrance to the Oceano Campground, Pismo State Beach. 3.5 mile walk, 4.5-5 hour walk.

You can actually drive your car on the beach. And you don’t need 4 wheel drive. But don’t make the rookie mistake I did. Keep your tires dry and stay away from the really wet sand otherwise your tire treads get caked and then you’ll get stuck. Luckily a couple guys with a Jeep and a strap were able to pull me out.
