Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on March 31, 2018Battle Row Campground is a Nassau County Park. It is quiet and easy to access from either 495 or 27. It is close to many commuter train stations to NYC, the most frequent being Hicksville. It's also close to some beaches and every store you will need including Ikea. There isn't a lot of information online about this park and you need to book over the phone, but I would describe it as a very straight forward place. No gimmicks, just simple camping. If you have to be in or nearby the middle of Long Island, I highly recommend it.
A non-resident can stay for two weeks. Most sites have 30 amps and water and some have 50 amps. Also, picnic tables and grills. There are two dump stations. The bathrooms are clean, a little worn in. The staff were all extremely friendly. We had some mail delivered as well.
Our cellular coverage was amazing.
We stayed in site 2 which is close to the office and just narrow enough for the trailer. There was a lot of poison ivy around our site. If you want more space and less trees, I would recommend staying in a site on one of the inner roads.

It's an oasis in the middle of the New York craziness. Booked a week, but decided to extend for a second week. If you want to stay near NY then you have a limited set of choices:
- Liberty Harbor, NJ - its a small parking lot, expensive, but very convenient for a couple of days sightseeing.
- Croton-on-Hudson - 1.8 miles from the MTA train that takes you right into Grand Central station, 30A full-hookups. Nice country area.
- Battle Row - 4-5 miles from MTA train that takes you into Penn station. A bit further out, but a normal suburban area with great stores. 50A, water, but a dump station only.
- Floyd Bennet - its a bit parking lot, need your own transport. No hookup, on-site water and sewer dump.
We stayed at all apart from Liberty ($125 for a parking space, seriously?). Battle Row was one of our favorites, other than having to decamp to dump. The showers & toilets are close by and clean, which helps with the water rationing.
Not all sites are flat, but most are not excessive. The residential area around the camp is very nice, will all the big box stores within a few miles. Good spacing and in a nice quiet space considering that it is in the middle of Long Island. You do need a vehicle to get around as the nearest bus station is about 2 miles away. The MTA North station is about 4-5 miles away, with quick trains into Penn Station or change at Jamaica for all other destinations (I had to go into Atlantic Terminal several days, and it was fast and convenient).

A well kept secret with reasonable rates. 30/50 available and water. Waste station located at entrance/exit. One con is it is located close to a town waste facility and on some nights truck activity can be heard.

Lots of mature trees, some with dead branches. No WIFI there. Leaky water spigot. It’s sufficient for anything close to NY. Took the Long Island Railroad and subway in to the city.
