“built in the Queen Anne Style in 1894”
Orange, Texas offers a unique opportunity to tour a three-story Victorian home that was built in the Queen Anne Style in 1894 by William Henry Stark and his wife Miriam M. Lutcher Stark, prominent philanthropists who occupied the home in until 1936. The house features a distinctive turret, stained glass windows, and ornate woodwork in cypress and long leaf yellow pine and stands much as it did at the turn of the 20th century, withfifteen rooms of original furnishings and decorative arts. Featured is the impressive collection of American Brilliant Period cut glass, pressed and pattern glass, milk glass and porcelains. The interior of both The W.H. Stark House and its adjacent Carriage House provides an extraordinary statement of Texas’ social history.
