Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on June 28, 2023Campground is near trails, national parks, the au-sable river etc. Outdoor paradise. The campground is clean, and the staff are friendly. Lots of trees and scenery. The game room is awesome. The bounce pillow is also fun for the kids. The facilities are a little dated, but kept clean so it didn't matter. The pool is a little small, and strong with chlorine. I believe they are open open for the summer. The view of the stars at night is like in the movies. Internet is slower than other places.

We ended up at this KOA because we had arranged to meet up with another family. The campground is pretty nice. Very long gravel spots but only a small portion of which was actually level. We didn't have any issues getting level at 34ft but longer rigs may have issues. Plenty of space. Large spots. Full hookups.
Typical KOA has all your amenities like a 10 yr old air cushion and 20 yr old arcades. Big store with lots of things to buy, decent washers but the dryers sucked.
The place stayed busy the whole time, but wasn't ever full during the week. Stayed relatively quiet as well. There were always people out cleaning stuff up and picking up trash.
There are train tracks that run right by the KOA but honestly we thought it was AWESOME! The train slows down SO much so it's really cool to watch it come through.
Oscoda is up the road and has everything you need. BE SURE to stop by the Ausable Market (Liquor and more) and pick you up some Hillbilly Beef Jerky. The Smoked BBQ Turkey Jerky was also good, and of course they have some pretty good smoked fish (but nothing like Russ Kendall's up on Minn North Shore Scenic Hwy).
We kayaked down the Au Sable via Oscoda Canoe Rental, and hiked some of the trails at Eagle Run trail head.
Tawas is another town just south and it has some really, REALLY pretty views of the lake! You can also check out the Tawas Lighthouse, super cool.
Internet was O.K, but it constantly dropped off at least every hour the whole time we were there.

This place was one of the best KOAs we have ever stayed at. Sites are large and NOT cramped. The vibe in the entire park was positive, family oriented and kid focused. The pool was wonderful. The bathrooms and showers have been redone and were gorgeous. One of the most well stocked and nice KOA stores I have ever seen. They had a train ride on Saturday - which even our 11 YO thought was fun. Then as an extra - the owners busted out an old fire engine and took the kids on rides around the park. The entire park is well maintained. Playground is HUGE AND - I hope they keep the retro Arcade with the 80s tables the way it is - maybe a few new games.. but the feel of it was so much fun. This is the way KOAs should be and how I remember them as a kid... KuDDOS - to this amazing family/KOA. Yes there was also a real train one of the two nights that came through and blew the horn at the crossing - but it only happened the one time and it was still early enough - that it didn't bother us.

Normally the KOA campgrounds place their sites so close together you feel like you’re in an apartment building. This one gave you a bit more space. The campground was immaculately kept and had one of the cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen. Close to Lake Huron and Huron National Forest. There were nightly trains going through and the locals were often using the ATV trails nearby. So if you’re looking for complete quiet, you won’t find it here

An off the path campground in an off the path town. Both are great! This KOA's at the end of a dead end road in the middle of the woods. Only here for a couple nights but got a chance to head out along the River Road Biway and check out Lumberman's Monument. It's way up on a hill with a killer view through the trees. If you don't mind steps, take a walk down to see the waterfalls built by the lumbermen out of logs.
