Here at Fisheating Creek, you’re likely to spot alligators and turtles, great blue herons, little blues, great white egrets, ibis, swallow-tailed kites, and many other species of birds. If you look carefully, you might even see a deer or wild boar in the cypress swamps and hardwood forests that surround Fisheating Creek. Even though we’re far removed from the big cities, our campground has all the modern conveniences that you’d expect at a developed camping resort. We have two bathhouses with hot water showers, laundry, a well-stocked camp store, and canoe and kayak rentals.

However when we arrived at our campground there was about 8 loaves of stale Italian bread all over our site. We picked it up because we did not want our dogs or other animals eating it. We took it to the dumpster which was over running with trash.
They had free hot showers and the bathrooms were clean.
We had to show our dogs shot records and pay $2.00 a day for each dog.
They have a small swimming pond which was warm and good to cool off on a hot day.
However there was train tracks right behind us and a train went by several times a day including about 1 am. I love trains and so does my husband and the noise did not bother us.
You can rent kayaks and paddleboards there although we did not.

Some pipes being repaired equals 3 acres of construction, you have to boil the water, power goes out periodically, they say there’s Wi-Fi but there isn’t, sewage smell here and there, if you’re tent camping there are some nice spots otherwise I would not bother until construction is complete- and no refunds. And you’re next to a major road so there’s highway noise day and night.

Fairly nice location with more room between sites and comparably better rates than many in peak season. Good clean power (according to my SurgeGuard), safe 40ish psi for water (according to my pressure regulator) and sewer hook ups. All the sites were back in on raised gravel beds, and posed few challenges even for an inexperienced backer like myself.
Wish I had a canoe or kayak so I could spend some time on the lazy river. Had to contend myself with wandering the few short trails available from the site.
They have a swimming area (no guard, at your own risk) but it’s basically a pond. Same dark water as the river, and nothing to keep gators out. This was closed the entire time we were there due to water quality (it’s only tested once a month) the notices looked like they had been up a long time.
Half the park was under construction 7 days a week from about 8:00 AM-6:00 PM. The work crew damaged the water main several times, leading to several water outages, at least one that lasted 2 days. When the water is flowing, there’s a boil advisory in effect (again due to the construction). The one positive is that there were many vacant sites, so not as crowded as is typical. One regular said it routinely fills up to capacity (3000+) with lots of screaming kids every weekend.
There are (expensive) boat & bike rentals, as well as a (reasonably priced) laundry, but it only has 1 washer and 1 dryer. It is also locked on the weekends, but staff can get longer term campers access. We never had to wait.
We enjoyed our stay, despite the frustrations. When confronted with the obvious restrictions, staff agreed to reduce our RV rate to the tent site rate for those days with extended outages.

Every part of our stay was touched by campground construction. That being said, the campground will be nicer when it is finished. I wonder if everyone involved would not have been better off with closing the campground during the construction.
Pros:
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Nice trail system back to creek
- Kayak and canoe outfitter on campground
- Cheap firewood in camp store
- Site B11 is spacious and nice on the fun side, with a little extra space for parking off to the rear side
- If you like tent camping, this place has a number of unique and excellent tent sites and seemed very popular with tent campers on the weekend
Cons:
- No place to put rig when registering
- Site B9 backed up to within 2-3 feet of our slide on the utility side with one neighbor to our site B11
- Train tracks 50 Yards from site (and we weren't the closest) with 5-10 trains per day
- Highway 27 is right behind the railroad tracks, so there is some viewable and audible traffic from the campground
- 1 washer and 1 dryer for whole campground, open Monday through Thursday ($1.50 each machine)
- The only bathhouse open was 1/4 mile from our site, due to construction
- Electricity was out during our stay for 4+ hours one day
- Water was out on 3 separate days
- There was a boil order in place all but 3 of 14 days we stayed
- Did you know a construction roller tolls like a bell when it rolls over a sizable rock? We do now.
Cons aside, there is something about this campground that still appeals. We will stay here again someday. Our stay would have been better if the water levels had been higher and we could have canoed. If you are coming to kayak or canoe and don't want to portage more than you paddle, make sure you visit the campground website. They have a link to the current water level and they will not run their shuttled trips if the water level is below 1.5 feet.

Nice campground spread over a large area. RV sites are in an open area. P1-4 have electric and water and are in a fairly private area with shade but get roadway and rail noise. Some tent sites on the river. We have gotten sites in nicer parks for a lot less than $38. Restrooms are fine and the showers are hot.

If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing and pleasant camping experience, this is not the place. If you are looking for loud music, people partying until after midnight, people who walk through your campsite on their way to the bathroom, children riding their bikes through your campsite, kids using the screened in shelter (our site was adjacent) for skateboarding, bicycling, roller skating, and yelling at all hours of the day and night, this IS the place for you. Oh, and during the week you have the added bonus of heavy equipment as they upgrade the park.
The site itself was a concrete pad and very nice. But the sites are very close together. There was no visible camp host here to oversee these activities. We will not visit here again.

Met friend for the Halloween weekend. Rv spaces are spacious and have full hookups for $40! Row A sites are shaded by large oaks and others are not shaded. Did not use bath house but on this busy weekend we heard it was often messy and lacked toilet paper. Facility sits on a creek that offers fishing, kayaking Canoeing and has a boat ramp. There is also a separate swimming hole. Plenty to do. Campground is on Hwy 27 so traffic noise is always in background. Also, mosquitoes can be fierce!

We like the park, fhu’s large level concrete pads and spacious. Road construction makes it a little noisier than usual.
