I went with my family today and we spent like 3 hours. It was so much fun! We played in and near the water, even though it was cold, and slowly made our way up towards the waterfalls. They falls are great, but the steam itself was what we really enjoyed. You don’t see many of them down in the valley.
Water Wheel Falls is a 2 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Payson, Arizona that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible from March until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. You have the option to continue up to the Ellison Creek Cascades. If you're in the area it's worth the trip. There is no official trail. It's more a trail of use that skirts away from Water Wheel Camp Grounds.
