“A taste of Holland in Pella, IA”
The most famous things made at Jaarsma Bakery are Dutch letters – giant-size pastries in the form of the alphabet. Here you also will find sunny-yellow angelfood cakes made into circles and loaves, as well as cases filled with dozens of beautiful pastries, many with such enchanting names as krackelings, goat’s legs, almond bankets, and figure 8s. -roadfood.com
My family lives a few hour's drive away from Pella and on fun summer days we would drive all the way to Pella just to eat from the bakery. They have a huge variety of sweets and pastries, not to mention bread loaves, muffins, cookies, and their specialty; Dutch letters. Flaky pastry crust filled with an amazing almond paste, definitely worth the drive.
Pella itself is a gorgeous town and is a great place to visit. It always has been a very friendly community whenever I drove up and I enjoy being able to visit.
