“an historic NY town”
Get to know the town of Phelps, NY. Of course the history of Phelps goes further back than the establishment of the village of Phelps in 1855. Settlement of the Phelpstown, named in honor of Oliver Phelps one of the original owners of the territory called the Phelps and Gorham Purchase, began in 1789. The Phelps Community Historical Society, located at 66 Main Street in the village is just the place to learn more about Phelps’ past. Be sure to check out the unique two story outhouse.
A little challenging to find, but interesting!
