“Designated in 1682 in Philadelphia!”
You can find the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier here. This too, in colonial times, was where enslaved Africans were once held before being sold, and it has also served as a burial ground for white and black victims of the 1793 yellow fever epidemic.
This beautiful park is also a graveyard, having been used as a mass grave during the Yellow Fever epidemic of 1793 that killed 5000 people. Now it's a great place to sit and read or eat.
