“The fruits of our labors”
Dr. Manuel Guerra, a local physician and his wife Rosemary have dedicated their lives caring for people in the community. Rosemary was raised on a farm in Iowa and has always enjoyed working with the land and nature. Continuing their desire for living a healthy lifestyle, they planted a Muscadine vineyard in 1994. Initially the production was used for making juice, but has since been used to make jellies, syrup and wine. Once the yield from the vineyard became so immense the idea of a country winery emerged. Rosemary’s daughter Ann and son-in-law Mark and their three boys joined her in this venture. They are all proud to supply you with the fruits of their labors.
The Traveling Winers on Texas Wine Trail
The rows of grape vines gave it away. We really weren’t sure what to expect as we drove through the aluminum ranch gates onto a field, as the building was deceptive in appearance at first resembling an old shack (which it was!). Entry into the wine tasting room revealed a surprise – it wasn’t a shack at all. It was a quaint, small tasting room. Judy, the pourer, set out oyster crackers, our glasses, and offered a sampling of dry and sweet Muscadine based wines.
We ended our visit with a casual stroll through the farm vineyards.
