“Authentic Colombian Dining in Pittsfield”
Liliana, one of the restaurant owners, told us La Fogata means "The Bonfire" in Spanish and we warmed right up to this clean and friendly restaurant's authentic Colombian cuisine. It will certainly heat up your Latin soul in the cold winter months ahead as well as bring you back for leisurely peak season Berkshire dining because this is one of the best restaurants around. We stopped by on a sunny Sunday afternoon and the relaxing atmosphere and intoxicating food was all it has been hyped up to be. One appetizers that we chose consisted of hot and spicy Chorizo that was juicy and bursting with flavor along side silver dollar sized white corn cakes. These little cakes are so very light, just ground corn and wheat and flour free. Anne just adored these treats and they go so well with the sliced chorizo. The other appetizer was the super fresh green and slightly spicy guacamole with a tasteful amount of chopped onions and cilantro giving it a nice consistency. A really great start but on to the entrées we go... Steve had the Bandeja Tipica, which consisted of steak, an egg, one long uncut sweet plantain, a fried rind (my first time-think thick cut bacon), a scooped out half an avocado with white rice.
