“Located right on the beach!”
Located with the Dockeiler State Beach this RV campground offers scenic views and beach access for swimming. Amenities include hook-ups, a pump-out station, showers, and a laundromat. Each campsite has its own picnic table and barbecue. The campground is in close proximity to a busy airport which impacts noise level. From November through April a sand barrier is in place that obstructs the ocean view.

Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on March 05, 2023Great location -- this park is right on the beach with direct access to the bike/running trail that runs from Redondo up to Will Rogers State Park. A negative for some is that it is in the flight path for planes taking off from LAX, but we've found that they aren't too frequent, they do stop at night, and hey, you get used to it! A trade-off for the fabulous beach access, for sure. Always crowded on weekends with a fair share of partying going on, but the park is well-patrolled and rules are strictly enforced. This is our favorite park for visiting LA downtown and beaches.
Dockwieler RV Park is located right next to Los Angeles International Airport and the planes are taking off all day and all night. The only way we were able to sleep through the night was to have our fans running on high to block out the noise.
There's a waste water treatment plant next door, and depending on the breeze the odor in the park can be pretty foul.
In the winter the park puts up a sand burm between the front row/ocean view spots and the ocean. Site #1 is the only one with an ocean view during the burm season.
On the upside, the beach is beautiful and the location is good for us.
FYI: There's $3/day fee for per dog.

Really, it is that freeway close! Take the I-105 Westbound and when it changes into Imperial Avenue, you're aimed at the entrance to this RV park on the beach. That said, there's scarcely any highway traffic noise (Noisy PCH in this area is miles to the east). There is the sound of planes* taking off from LAX, but not that bothersome IOHO. Lots of helicopter traffic during the day skimming the water as they skirt the LAX airspace. And the sewage plant that is adjacent to the park didn't bother us since we had a strong breeze all our visit from the ocean.
We chose this site 1) cause Aluminarium said they'd go here again and 2) we had awning installation work planned at C&G Trailer Service first thing in the morning and they are just off the 105--very convenient. BTW, Rod and Darlene are great owners of C&G! They've helped us out twice and we've had Airstream stuff sent to us by them. Check 'em out!
Anyway, we didn't spend much time enjoying the park as we arrived in late afternoon and left very, very early the next morning. That said, the park met our needs and was clean and convenient and we'd stay there again if needed, as this park is very convenient to the Westside of Los Angeles.
*Wow, those double decker jumbo jets are incredibly huge!

Positive:
There were bikes flying by all of the time on the trail along the beach and tons of smiley happy people all around. All of the staff were super nice and friendly. Beach access right out of our front door.
Negative:
We had a back-in spot and little to no privacy. BBQ pit was filled with trash. The sound of planes from LAX were peaceful to us but I could see it being too loud for other people. The Hyperion Plant right behind the park was STINKY!
All and all a good park while traveling through LA.

We chose to stay here to be close to LAX and friends in Venice and this park is super convenient for those types of things. We were staying during the winter and unless you have one of the front row end spots like 1 or 83 the berm will prevent your from seeing the ocean, so why pay the extra for front row camping? I actually thought our spot 103 ended up with the best view because the back row on the motorhome side is raised higher than the front and middle rows giving us some height to look over the berm. It also looks through to the pavilion beach access, so you don't have another RV directly in your view. The downside is the site slopes downwards and we had to go cut wood at Home Depot to make a ramp for our front tires to get anywhere near level. We moved to site 101 the last night and had no trouble leveling.
The sewage treatment plant can get stinky (towards the evening for us). The planes are constant and tend to become background noise until it's really quiet in late evening or early morning. There are 2 washers and dryers ($1.75 and $1.50, respectively) and bathrooms/showers at each end. There are 2 small dog runs, but the beach is not dog-friendly. You can have a fire on the beach in one of the many provided pits. Just be sure to grab one early on the weekends as the back and RV park fill up like crazy on the weekends. There is a 22-mile bike path along the beach that runs right in front of the RV park. Dockweiler is about in the middle, but it's easy enough to ride your bike to Venice or Manhattan Beach.

You can't beat this RV park for location. It's on the beach, and a short drive to a ton of bars and restaurants. It's also driving distance to any of the usual LA attractions.
Yes, the sites are small (it's basically a parking lot for RVs). But it's SoCal, so space is at a premium. And the price, while higher for an RV park ($65-70/night), is reasonable when considering that hotels in the area could easily cost 2-3x that amount. Also, wrap your mind around the fact that it's near the airport so you'll hear planes. Some noise should be expected since you're essentially staying in a city.
There are full hookups, showers, and bathrooms (note: the ones on each end have an access code and are far nicer than the middle ones). Each site has a picnic table and charcoal grill. There's also a biking/walking/running path along the ocean.
Book early. This place fills up quickly.

If you're looking for places to park your RV close to Los Angeles, you'll notice there's not a lot of options. Dockweiler is basically just a parking lot on L.A.'s least desirable (but bonfire-friendly!) beach. It's minutes from LAX, which is both convenient and very loud since planes fly over every few minutes. However, you ARE steps from the beach and less than 10 miles away from L.A.s best beaches (Manhatten, Hermosa, Venice, and Santa Monica). Plus, you can enjoy all that L.A. itself has to offer - Hollywood, Beverly Hills, world-class dining, shopping, etc.! This could also be a great place to stay while visiting Disneyland and Universal Studios since both are less than an hour drive away (depending on traffic, of course!). We think Dockweiler would be a great group camping location. It would be an awesome place to enjoy partying with friends at the beach all day while having the convenience of full hook-ups and tons of nearby activities!

If you look out at the ocean, you can imagine that you're the only one there. But, in reality, you're pretty packed in here and there's a waste water treatment plan just east of you.
Though it's pricey, Dockweiler is a great base camp for exploring LA's coastal vibe. There's an awesome beach bike path that allows you to get around LA without traffic.
You can enjoy a beach bonfire at night, with the sounds of the ocean in the background.
The facilities are clean. You will need a water pressure regulator for your hose. And any guests that might visit will have to pay $7-8 to park and walk over.
This is urban camping but you get the ocean!

Check in went smooth. The girls working in the office were friendly and helpful.
First things first.... This park is right by LAX so planes are taking off non stop and it can get very loud. I think it stops at night though cause it never bothered us at night when we were sleeping.
Video I made of the park: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY1n1AwYoGQ
It's weird that the "beach front" spots have to back in.
If you decide to ride a bike from this park using the 22 mile long bike path, I can tell you that it's 21 miles round trip to the Santa Monica Pier and back. The ride to the Santa Monica Pier takes you thru Venice Beach which is cool to see. Venice Beach is a good place to people watch if that's your thing.
Pros:
Great Staff
Excellent access to the beach
Great Bike Path
Clean Park
Dogs allowed on Beach
Cons:
Sites are close together
Noise from airplanes taking off from LAX
Weekend warriors that come in on Friday and leave on Sunday
Kids driving their remote controlled cars all around the park.
Overall I would stay here again.

Well-groomed grounds, but tight quarters. Dune obstructs the view of the actual ocean, even for the premium 'ocean-front' sites. Under the approach for LAX, so approaching and departing planes are VERY, VERY loud - be ready to keep your AC/FAN on high to drown out the noise. Really ruins the atmosphere on the beach. Adjacent to sewage treatment plant, although I didn't.. Dog runs are very small.
Showers are little more than beach showers. Lukewarm water!
Nonexistent wifi. Not worth the premium price.
