“visit the tallest lighthouse in Florida”

The Ponce de Leon Inlet Light is a lighthouse and museum located at Ponce de Leon Inlet in Northern Florida. At 175 ft in height, it is the tallest lighthouse in the state and the one of the tallest in the United States (the Cape Hatteras Light in North Carolina is taller at 207 feet). It is located between St. Augustine Light and Cape Canaveral Light. Walk inside the white picket fence and step back in time. Maintained and operated by the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Association, this beautiful facility represents one of the best preserved and most authentic historic light stations in the nation today. Visitors will agree that the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and Museum offers a treasure-trove of sights, sounds, and experiences for young and old alike.

The entrance fee is now $6.95 if I can remember correctly, but still well worth it. If you've done other FL lighthouses, this one is a little more difficult as it only has one railing, but the view from the top is fantastic. There's a great woodsy trail to walk and there's a heartbreaking exhibit with rafts that have washed ashore, presumably from Cuban refugees. The lighthouse is tucked away so the area is nice and quiet and off the beaten path. There's lots of great places to sit and picnic nearby and there's an adorable lighthouse cat that hangs around the main house.

The 200+ step stairway is a killer, but it is well worth it! The view from atop is breathtaking. The lighthouse has a small museum, and around the ground area is neatly kept, and clean. This is a wonderful place to take your kids, and the whole family.

The whole area is great for spending the day only by paying $5 per person for entering. In my point of view this money seems nothing if you take in mind what this place has to offer you.

Playgrounds, pathways to walk, great beach to swim and the lighthouse stands as a landmark calling you to visit.

After climbing more than 200 stairs I got some great photographs while visiting this special little treasure of Ponce Deleon Inlet Lighthouse.

Although I got tired I do not regret getting in! Totally worth it!
