Welcome to the Livingston County War Museum - Dal Estes Education Center in Pontiac Illinois! Come visit our displays from World War I to the present. We are staffed by veterans and are located in the Old City Hall building next to the Route 66 Museum in beautiful downtown Pontiac.

I've been to a lot of war museums, but this one takes an entirely different approach... Instead of just nameless, faceless war artifacts this museum features tons and tons of mannequins in military dress, each representing a local man or woman who served. There are incredible stories for some of the people, and there's always a military vet in the place to chat. One of the more personal war museums I've ever visited. Right above the Route 66 museum, so you better stop at both.

03.25.14: Large amount of donated items. Could spend an hour or two there if you have the time. Otherwise a 20-minute walk through works too. They offer a recorded audio tour which would be educational if you have the time.

What a hidden GEM! So much history but with a story to go with all the brave men & women who are honored at this museum.. our guide told us his story of the Vietnam war, his friends and his father...so heartfelt...I also love the fact the they have a Skype program to connect to classrooms all over the world. They have vets from different wars answer questions and share experiences... along with pre recoded stories of our service men recounting their time while serving and personal experiences... a recorded history of the race men and women who served!! This museum is truly a treasure that can reach so many and celebrates your service men and women!! An MUST SEE!!!

This Museum was amazing!! The collection of artifacts and uniforms was outstanding and great to see. I would definitely stop and look around. We heard some great stories by one of the gentlemen there. They also have a Skype program for classrooms all over that connects you with war veterans and a cell phone audio tour you can listen to anytime. I definitely recommend stopping.
