Salt Creek Recreation Area

National park aesthetics, with County Park amenities. The 196-acre Park includes upland forests, rocky bluffs, rocky tide pools, sand beach, Salt Creek access, campsites, and panoramic views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Crescent Bay, and Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Salt Creek is a regional park that draws visitors from all areas of the northwest and is another one of Clallam County's premier parks. Many colleges and schools from all over the United States visit the Park to study and observe the marine life.

Salt Creek Recreation Area is a park located about 15 miles west of Port Angeles, Washington and once was Camp Hayden, a World War II military camp. It was purchased by the Federal General Services Administration after the war, but the World War II bunkers are still available for visiting. The park now has a number of camping spots, most overlooking the water and open all year long. Plus a recreation area with a baseball field, basketball court, picnic shelter, playground and horseshoe pits. The park provides access to Tongue Point and Striped Peak.
