“most easily accessed mountain area within Olympic National Park”
Hurricane Ridge is the most easily accessed mountain area within Olympic National Park. In clear weather, fantastic views can be enjoyed throughout the year. Hurricane Ridge is located 17 miles south of Port Angeles on Hurricane Ridge Road, off Mount Angeles Road (directions). The road is open throughout summer. During the winter season, the road is scheduled to be open Friday through Sunday and holiday Mondays, weather and road conditions permitting. All vehicles must carry tire chains during the winter season.
Absolutely stunning! The Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center is worth the drive, and better yet, head out from there on the Hurricane Hill hike. It feels like walking through the Sound of Music! Dwarfed by the enormous vistas, viewing the Olympic peaks on one side and the ocean on the other. In early July, wildflowers were everywhere..We even saw tons of goats.
It's really a 10 but the rating only went up to 5! 👍
Great location! Wish there were more trails to wander off once I parked here but otherwise fantastic.
Amazing drive up. I even saw a bear! If you wanna hike, sandals and a hoodie prolly won’t cut it. The admission to the park lasts for 7 days though!
Beautiful. Well worth the time. Looks like the Alps.
