“just like a home cooked meal”
John and Carol Budry are originally from Sterling Heights, Michigan. In late 2000, with all four of their daughters finally on their own, they decided they needed a break from the “city life.” Looking to start there own business, a small restaurant was a natural choice. Carol had a background in restaurant management and her passion for “cooking from scratch” began as a young girl in the kitchen with her second generation Polish-American mom. John had a background in good stories told with a kind heart and makes the ideal host. Carol always wanted a restaurant where a town local could sit in one corner and interrupt a tourist in the opposite corner to offer sightseeing advice and local yore. The Lighthouse Cafe proved to be an ideal fit. It has the proximity of downtown Port Austin, the backyard on the marina, and the comfy feeling we desired. At the Lighthouse Cafe, we strive to make the experience one of an extended family gathering, complete with the teasing, the laughter and the home-cooked food.
